Surreal?

This morning I walked down my block, past a series of parking meters. I noticed that the first meter from where I started had no car at it, but had 1:34 left on it. The second meter had no car, and 1:33 on it. The third meter had a car, and 1:31. The fourth meter had no car, and 1:30. The fifth meter had a car, and 1:29. The sixth meter had a car, and 1:27. That was the end of the block, but it’s this kind of thing that makes me question reality. Is this some sort of apocalyptic countdown?

Burst my apocalyptic simulated world bubble… Pretty obvious, after writing the above. But still, why?

Yeah, that didn’t occur to me until five hours later. How I think sometimes.

  1. My guess: Some generous soul saw a meter maid coming, noted that a bunch of cars had expired meters (perhaps the city had recently changed the signs), and fed a quarter into each meter as he walked down the street.
